VTW comenta sobre esses cães em seu livro azul: "...um extrato do "Illustrated Kennel News" de 1908, que fornece uma foto de 'Cães Nativos do Congo', retratando uma cadela nativa bastante pobre e sua filha criada no Zoológico de Berlim, a cadela mais jovem sendo uma típica Basenji. Um artigo que acompanha afirma: 'os olhos são pequenos e escuros e muito inteligentes, inseridos em um rosto enrugado, cabeça larga, as orelhas são eretas, largas na base, o a cauda é geralmente portada alta e enrolada sobre o dorso... A altura eu devo estimar em cerca de 17 polegadas. ... Estes (os cães exibidos em Crufts em 1895) eram, no entanto, cães consideravelmente menores do que o espécime de Berlim.'"

2000 Ch. O Wild Buckwheat da Bluestone é o primeiro preto e branco a ganhar o prêmio AKC All-breed Best in Show nos Estados Unidos.

2001 Ch. Jethard Cidevant se torna o primeiro Basenji a ganhar o Best in Show no Crufts no Reino Unido

2003 BCOA inicia o Programa de Versatilidade para celebrar nossa raça inteligente e adaptável e o vínculo especial humano-animal que temos com eles. Procura criar entusiasmo para treinar e trabalhar com Basenjis – show, atletas e animais de estimação – bem como reconhecer realizações excepcionais. Um Honor Roll é mantido online no site do BCOA e é publicado uma vez por ano no Boletim do Clube.

2004 Sally Wallis entrou online com seu tremendo banco de dados de pedigree. Ela começou a coletar pedigrees em 1984 e esperou até ter cerca de 70.000 pedigrees coletados para colocar online.

2006 A verdadeira história de um Basenji foi apresentada no episódio "The Cat Came Back" no programa de rádio This American Life. O segmento conta a história de uma família que escolheu um basenji porque não derrama nem baba, mas ficou frustrada com sua indiferença e destrutividade. Eles finalmente o trouxeram para morar em uma fazenda a 30 milhas de distância, mas em poucos dias o cão tenaz encontrou o caminho de volta para casa. O diretor da série, Mark Risley, é dono de vários basenjis e o produtor Alex Blumberg teve um Basenji teimoso e destrutivo quando era criança. Não importa quantas vezes sua família tentou encontrar um lugar em outro lugar, sempre encontrou o caminho de casa. Spark é o primeiro UDX2 Basenji

História do vinho Basenji 2007...

2007 Aljor's Back to Sonbar, AKC UDX2, CGC, CANADIAN CDX, TDIRVA em novembro Sparky se torna o primeiro AKC UDX2 Basenji. Em vinte tentativas, ela passou em Obediência Aberta e Utilitária (40 pontuações de aprovação) para alcançar este título. "TDIRVA" representa 350 ou mais visitas de cães de terapia hospitalar. Sparky foi treinado e controlado por Mary Langula.

2007 14 de julho, o teste de marcador de DNA para a síndrome de Fanconi tornou-se disponível. Mais um salto para a saúde dos Basenjis em todo o mundo! OFA assume este teste e manutenção de registros em seu site.

VTW comments on these dogs in her blue book: "...an extract from the "Illustrated Kennel News" of 1908, which gives a photo of 'Native Dogs of the Congo,' depicting a rather poor native bitch, and her daughter bred in the Berlin Zoo, the younger bitch being a very typical Basenji. An accompanying article states: 'the eyes are small and dark and very intelligent, set in a wrinkled face, head broad, the ears are upright, broad at the base, the tail is usually carried high and curled over the back... The height I should estimate at about 17 in. ... These (the dogs exhibited at Crufts in 1895) were, however, considerably smaller dogs than the Berlin specimen.'"

1912 A stuffed Basenji in a pygmy village scene is exhibited at the Museum of Natural History, New York City.

1920 Major George Richards, M.C. keeps Basenjis while living in the Sudan

2000 Ch. Bluestone's Wild Buckwheat is the first black and white to win an AKC all-breed Best in Show in the United States.

2000 Bill Duffy had a Basenji named Carey when he was a child.  As an adult he installs a Basenji as part of a sculpture in White Marsh, Maryland. See photo right which was taken by Laura Gilchrist..

2003 BCOA starts the Versatility Program to celebrate our intelligent and adaptable breed and the special human-animal bond we have with them. It seeks to create enthusiasm for training and working with Basenjis – show, athletes and pets – as well as recognize outstanding accomplishment. An Honor Roll is maintained online at BCOA's website and is published once a year in the Club's Bulletin.

2006 The true story of a Basenji was featured in the episode "The Cat Came Back" on the radio program This American Life.  The segment tells the story of a family who chose a basenji because they do not shed or slobber, but became frustrated with his aloofness and destructiveness. They eventually bring him to live on a farm 30 miles away, but within a few days the tenacious dog found its way all the way back home. The series’ director, Mark Risley, owns several basenjis and producer Alex Blumberg had a stubborn and destructive Basenji when he was a kid.  No matter how many times his family tried to find it a place elsewhere it, it always found its way home.
