Basenji no Cinema 

Drama em preto e branco da Batjac Productions e Warner Bros. que é uma adaptação cinematográfica do romance homônimo de 1954 de James H. Street (1903-1954). O livro foi inspirado na estória original de 1941 de Street que apareceu no "The Saturday Evening Post". Foi o antepenúltimo filme dirigido por William A. Wellman (1896-1975).

1942 Veronica Tudor-Williams escreve em "The Basenji" sobre a história publicada como uma série no The Saturday Evening Post em 1941 e no filme da Warner Brothers em 1956. Esta história de James Street apareceu em forma de livro e em coleções de histórias por muitos anos. Essa história e o filme geraram interesse nos Basenjis por muitos anos, já que a história foi republicada e o filme era frequentemente repetido na televisão tarde da noite. 

O Basenji é uma raça de cão de caça que foi criada a partir de um estoque originário da África central. O ator Howard Keel (1919-2004) canta a música de abertura. Quando não estava filmando com Brandon De Wilde (1942-1972), de 13 anos, My Lady (nome completo registrado: My Lady of the Congo) passava todo o tempo com ele. My Lady tinha 6 meses quando foi trazida da Inglaterra, junto com outros Basenjis para atuar como substitutos. No acordo para fornecer o cachorro, estava escrito no contrato que My Lady pertenceria a De Wilde após a conclusão das filmagens. A produção do filme pertence a John Wayne (1907-1979). Sidney Poitier (1927-2022) é um coadjuvante.

Black and white drama from Batjac Productions and Warner Bros. which is a film adaptation of the 1954 novel of the same name by James H. Street (1903-1954). The book was inspired by Street's original 1941 story that appeared in "The Saturday Evening Post". It was the penultimate film directed by William A. Wellman (1896-1975).

The Basenji is a breed of hunting dog that was bred from stock originating in central Africa. Actor Howard Keel (1919-2004) sings the opening song. When not filming with 13-year-old Brandon De Wilde (1942-1972), My Lady (registered full name: My Lady of the Congo) spent all her time with him. My Lady was 6 months old when she was brought over from England, along with other Basenjis to act as replacements. In the agreement to supply the dog, it was written in the contract that My Lady would belong to De Wilde after filming was completed. The production of the film belongs to John Wayne (1907-1979). Sidney Poitier (1927-2022) is a supporting actor.
